  • Nathanael and Walker have been inkjet printing for artists from all over the world for many many years. They are technically at the top of their game and they teach inkjet printing to other printmakers world-wide. You are in good hands.

  • Although it’s little known outside of the industry, Walker Blackwell has been formative in shaping the language and technology surrounding digital inkjet printing since the early 2000s. He, along with a few other early digital printmakers coined the term “pigment print” to refer to inkjet prints. To this day Walker is a “printmaker’s printmaker” who consults with other shops, studio technicians, and leading paper manufacturers world-wide. When you print with us you have all of that knowledge backing up everything we create for you.

  • In our previous work, the founders of Prints on Paper created and developed the technology behind dedicated monochrome ink sets. Since then we have invented new ways of advanced monochromatic printing that greatly expand tonal hue control and over-all quality.

  • Prints on Paper is run for artists by artists. We get how hard it can be to make decisions around media, sizing, cost of production, etc. We are flexible in all of this so just get in touch!

CUTLASS SPECIAL

Here’s a little known secret about printing: 70% of the labor that goes into a print is the cutting, interleaving, and packing! So when you go to a print shop and are stunned at the per-square-foot price, you are generally paying for that labor overhead. The industry term for this is “fulfillment.” At Prints on Paper we pride ourselves on absolutely superb and consistent fulfillment for artists world-wide. But in thinking about how we might cut down on this cost and really create prints that artists can afford we came up with the idea of offering a special roll print pricing.

Here’s the gist:

  1. You size your files in Photoshop to exactly what your print dimensions need to be (including blank borders).

  2. You upload all your files to us below.

  3. We lay these out on a 60” roll of paper for the best fit (with minimal paper waste).

  4. We send you an invoice with the print cost calculated at the 60” wide X the printed height on your choice of paper.

  5. After payment we print the images off the 60” roll with cross-hair crop marks: uncut.

  6. After the print is created we cut between these images so that we can roll one or two of these bulk prints together and create a minimally sized roll of prints. This way if all your prints are decently small we will not be sending you a 65” long roll!

  7. Either you come and pick up the prints rolled on themselves in glassine (no extra packing cost other than the print price) or we charge for secure roll packing and shipping of the prints. We ship world-wide.

Drag a folder of files over the uploader below to get started.

We’ll ask more specific details after you drag files.

Digital Printing Prices

We strive to be as cost-effective as possibly while upholding our very high quality standards.

Small Print Pricing:
Small prints are labor-intensive to make. We provide a custom quote for anything smaller than 16”x20”. For reasonable pricing on small prints we recommend printing a quantity of images at a time and/or using our cutlass print service. Please let us know what you want and we’ll quote you a price asap.

Medium and Large Print Pricing:
Our prices are $30 per square foot for most media starting at the 16”x20” on up. For specialty printing on unique media such as uncoated fine art, thin gampi, linen, and silk, pricing is higher and subject to a custom quote. Specialty, non-standard, or non-stocked media of all kinds can be ordered ahead of time and reserved for you with a security deposit. We profile all media (for free) before production starts.

In-Studio Pricing:
All prices are discounted by 50% during a studio day with a minimum studio day fee of $450 One of the most cost effective ways to print is to come work with us in-house. When artists are working in the studio they have the ability to see the prints coming out of the printers. This allows for edits, viewing of results, and live back and forth with the master printers.

Cutlass Pricing:
Cutlass pricing is 40% off our normal print pricing (not including in-house prices). Note: For cutlass pricing the total is for the entire tiled sheet as laid out on a 60” roll. This includes white-space. Shipping and packing is billed separately.

Minimum Order Amount:
Our minimum order amount is $95.

Prices do not include taxes, shipping, or packing. Prices above are an estimate only. Different sizes roughly fall in the price ranges above based on square footage. Very odd-ball print dimensions (like 1” by 40”) may be priced differently.

** In-Studio production requires a $450 minimum security deposit.
