At Prints on Paper we are committed to fostering a positive environment. We are LGBTQ+ safe and mostly handicap accessible. Located at the end of a road at Blackwell Roots Farm, we are child-friendly and we welcome artists with families. Come stay with us on the farm and experience the joy of print-work without the hustle and bustle. We are here to solve problems for artists, make beautiful prints, enjoy life, and generate long-lasting community.

  • The studio is operated by Nathanael Kooperkamp and Walker Blackwell. These two artists come from different backgrounds (Photography and Printmaking). Over the years they both helped develop some of the leading print processes in the world today and they continue their innovative work at Prints On Paper.

  • We do this work because we love building community with artists from all backgrounds. We love seeing people make new works of art. We love experimenting. We love to teach. We love paper. We love ink. We love prints.

  • Prints On Paper is a collaborative print studio focusing on digital pigment and photogravure process. The studio has full editioning capabilities. Being a collaborative studio means we can take an artist’s concept and work with them to fully realize it in print-form. If the funding and timing is there, we are open to even inventing new print technology to see a project through (something we have done in the past). Collaborative printing does not have to be time-consuming or expensive. It’s often as simply as a quick conversation about each print with the artist and then we are ready to run. Over time we get to know an artist’s work (and brain) and the amount of communication back and forth about each work actually decreases while the efficiency increases. Because we are well-versed in digital we apply this collaborative concept to both new and traditional printmaking techniques. Print is print is print.

As a collaborative studio we do both publication work with artists and studios as well as contract for artists and studios. This means that for the artists whom we’ve selected to publish ourselves, we collaborate pro-bono (or materials fee only) with them to produce the work. For the work we publish, it might be in-cahoots with their gallery or another institution who will promote and sell the work or it might be sold directly through our studio or the artist. For contract work, the collaboration is the same but the artist or gallery or institution is funding the labor of creation and the studio is not taking a cut of any print sales in the future.

  • As a print technology innovator, Prints On Paper leads the way in efficiency and quality. This enables us to edition work very quickly and with precision. Nathanael and Walker are multi-seat printmakers who enjoy the collaborative environment as well as the repetitive nature of edition printing (and ehem . . . packing/shipping). There is a very high level of follow-through from the first conversation with an artist to the final signed print.
